Artist Statement
Each work represents a story, but it’s represented in a way that is non-sequential and different than in traditional forms of storytelling. In the paper works, I use a combination of various types of paper including filmy Japanese rice paper - multiple layers and colors, one on top of the other. The paper is intermixed with watercolor, acrylic, oil pastels, and soft pastels to create color, light, depth and texture. This technique produces the sensuous quality that dominates the work.
